Life coach Ofentse represents Mzansi in The Mommy Club NBO

Ofentse Tsipa is living proof that dreams can be manifested - and she is doing it all with style. Her name means "Christ has conquered" - a powerful reminder of her mother’s resilience after experiencing multiple miscarriages before her birth.

As a transformational coach based in Kenya, she is helping people reach their goals while juggling a busy life of marriage, motherhood, and studies at United States International University-Africa (USIU-Africa).

With a Bulgarian husband, two kids, and a passion for self-discovery, Ofentse often shares her journey of perfection and growth through her hit podcast and on social media. Whether she is discussing life hacks or her personal struggles, she is all about keeping it real.

The Tsipa name might ring a bell - Ofentse is the sister of South African heartthrob and actor Lemogang Tsipa, who brought the legendary Shaka Zulu to life in Mzansi Magic’s hit show Shaka iLembe.

In an exclusive, she spills on joining Mommy Club NBO.

You are a life transformation coach and help people manifest love and financial success. How does that knowledge shape your own approach to motherhood?

I am all about manifesting magic! My coaching practice has shaped my motherhood journey in the best way possible. The biggest lesson has been to learn to feel my feelings and be present.

This has helped me walk alongside my kids, seeing them as equals - real human beings with their own thoughts and feelings. Forget the old-school "children should be seen and not heard" mindset! In my house, my kids are both seen and heard.

Thanks to my coaching background, I am more intentional and analytical about how they are feeling, thinking, and creating for themselves.

You are married to a Bulgarian man and live in Kenya. How do you blend your different cultures in parenting?

We are 100% a multicultural family! My husband is Bulgarian, with a strong French influence, and I am South African - Tswana with Zulu roots - plus, we have the Kenyan vibe from living here.

I like to call myself a global mama because we are raising global citizens. My children are growing up with a blend of cultures. We focus on being pan-African and global, aligning our values while adapting to different traditions.

You have got two nannies helping you with the kids. What is the best advice you would give moms about finding and keeping a good nanny?

First, trust your gut during the interview! Chemistry is everything. Every time I ignored mine, it ended in hiring mistakes.

Second, hire for character, not skills. Skills can be taught. I am a Montessori mom, so I have trained my nannies in the Montessori method - following the child’s interests and respecting their individuality. Cleaning or other tasks? Those can also be taught or outsourced for training.

To keep them happy, I do informal performance check-ins. Every Monday, we sit down as a team, share grievances, and sort things out. It’s all about teamwork and respect.

I am not a micromanager either. If something is not done, we talk it through instead of me hovering. Giving them autonomy is key to maintaining a great working relationship.

If you could swap lives with any other mom in the world for a day, who would it be and why?

If I could trade lives with a mom from the show, it would definitely be Jackie. She’s got an intriguing mix of challenges; it’s a lot! She is solo, balancing work and parenting, which is similar to my life but on a smaller scale.

I would love to experience navigating dating again, rebuilding co-parenting relationships with the fathers of my kids, and exploring that dynamic. It’d be fascinating to step into her shoes for a day!

If your kids Google you one day, what do you hope they see?

Man, if my kids Google me one day, I hope they find inspiration and admiration. I want them to see a legacy of helping people become the best versions of themselves, of authenticity, and of loving life as it is while growing.

Even though being human means striving for more, I also want them to feel contentment with where they are. I hope they find something peaceful, wholesome, and calm - something that makes them proud to say, “That’s my mom.”

Motherhood and marriage are not always picture-perfect. What is one struggle you have faced that people would not expect?

One thing that shocked me was postpartum recovery. We talk about it a lot on the show because it’s no joke - there are so many unexpected challenges after giving birth.

No one really prepares you for it. It is like stepping into motherhood and realising, “Welcome to hell,” in some ways. But I have shared how I’ve navigated my postpartum journey, especially with my baby being just 10 months old, and learned how other moms have handled theirs too. It is raw, real, and something we need to talk about more.

What is the most rewarding part of being a mom, and what’s one myth about parenting you no longer believe?

The most rewarding part is the unconditional love, it’s unmatched. I cannot believe how much I love my kids increasingly every day as they grow.

One myth I no longer believe in is that you can control kids. I used to judge moms when their kids threw tantrums in supermarkets - until it happened to me! You realise it is not about controlling them but allowing them to have their feelings and express themselves.

What’s the biggest misconception people have about you?

People think I am a snob! I have heard it so many times. Then they meet me and go, “Oh my goodness, you’re so nice in person!”
